Trex lumber is made from reclaimed plastic (mainly shopping bags and stretch film) and hardwood waste. This composition means that Trex never needs to be protected with sealants, and will never crack, split, splinter or rot. Trex resists termites and other insects without toxic chemicals. Trex decking can be cut, fastened, drilled, routered and sanded just like wood. Trex also carries a 10 year limited residential warranty against rot, splitting, splintering, checking, decay, and insect damage. The warranty is fully transferable. Trex is only available in two colors (tannish-gray, and weathered brown) that will lighten to an attractive patina within 6-12 weeks. You can paint or stain Trex to achieve a custom color, but it is not necessary. Trex comes in most common lumber sizes from 1"x6" to 2"x8" in lengths from 8' to 16'. Custom profiles from 2"x10" to 6"x6" are also available. Trex should not be used as a primary structural member such as a post, beam, or joist.
